Old Boy to take on Benidorm 10k Our President this year is Brian Dower, Head Teacher of Parkview Comprehensive School.
Brian was born in Plymouth in 1944, where he was educated until 1962 when he came to Barrow with his parents and sister, his father coming to work at Vickers. He was a member of the Upper Sixth under the late Sam Price for one year after which he went to Leeds University and then to Liverpool University.
He commenced his teaching career in Liverpool, moving on to Rotherham, Sheffield and eventually, in 1982, returning to Barrow to take up his present position.
Brian's wife is also a teacher. They have three children aged 16, 15 and 10.
Brian's interests are reading, squash and skiing. He is a former member of Barrow Rotary Club.
