Old Boy to take on Benidorm 10k 
Don Trangmar (shown in his early days with Walney Rovers) was an outstanding sportsman in the town in the early 1950s after moving to Barrow from his native Sunderland.
Mr Trangmar, who lived in West View Road and attended Barrow Grammar School, turned out regularly for Barrow Reserves and was also a fine all-rounder for Furness.
Don was part of a successful Barrow Grammar School side of the 1956-59 era, and played for Walney Rovers, who won the 1958 Lancashire U18 trophy and also had a spell with Barrow AFC.
Trangmar became successful in the retailing field, being on the board of Marks & Spencer, with a responsibility for the menswear side of the company.
He became Sussex County Cricket Club’s chairman, with John Snow, the former Sussex and England fast bowler, taking over as vice-chairman.
Don stood down as chairman of Sussex County Cricket Club in 2002 and has served on a number of boards for companies in the retail sector. He now lives in Slough.
