Trish Jones

Trish Jones is looking for former classmates. Can you help?

Trish Jones writes:

I have had various relatives who attended the grammar schools.

Aunt Rene Phizacklea  (nee Boyde) - Many years ago. Now deceased

Aunt Ethel Wharton (nee Phillipson) also now deceased

Cousin Dr David Wood approx 1951- Retired author and Botanist

Cousin Barbara Wharton 1952-

Cousin Pauline Wharton 1954- author and researcher

Sister Lynne Phillipson 1955

Sister in law Wyn Jones 1953 - psychiatrist still practising

Pauline has traced our family tree and found we are related to Robin the Devil who famously killed a man in Kendal Church. He is portrayed in a pageant held annually in Kendal.

The Phillipsons owned half of the Lake District after being high ranking officers in the civil war (Robin and his brother were majors in the Royalist army). Their lands and wealth were confiscated after the war.

Also direct descendants of Henry Phillipson - apprentice to the famous clock maker Jonas Barber. My daughter Pauline and I own grand-father clocks built by Henry.

I have been lucky enough to travel extensively due to my husband’s job. Foreign lands include America, Saudi Arabia (a culture shock), Das Island, China and most of Europe.

I live in the Cotswolds now and travel to Grange for a week in November to catch up with friends and relatives. Friends include Ken Royall now in his 90’s, our wedding photographer and once official Vickers photographer.

If you can help Trish to trace any of these former pupils please fill in the form below or she can be contacted directly at deependable@btinternet.com
